As the Denton County Transportation Authority’s (DCTA) recent Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, I was tasked with developing and leading the marketing and communications plan for the agency’s GoZone microtransit public involvement project in the spring of 2021.

Despite being voted “most likely to be president” in high school, James Earp’s path to public service wasn’t a direct one. In 2022, the city reduced the street mph to 20mph for most neighborhood streets, which in a car oriented city, is at times controversial (" Salt Lake City Council lowers speed limit to 20 mph on 70% of city streets in unanimous vote ," " Salt Lake City swaps first 20 mph speed limit sign in initiative for safer streets ," Salt Lake Tribune ).
This project proved to be a resounding success, with 190 fantastic entries received and more than 9000 votes from the community. By providing a centralized and easily accessible online resource, the campaign played a crucial role in fostering community engagement and reinforcing the resilience of the local economy.
