Surprisingly the small community has access to a ton of money, through the generosity of Darla Moore, a hedge fund operator, who grew up there. Many years ago Leimert Park in Los Angeles was featured in the Washington Post as a black-business district (" Los Angeles's Black Pride: Taking In the Retro Vibe of Leimert Park ," places , 2006).
